We are a California Professional Corporation specializing in Individual, Marriage, and Family Therapy. We are located in Whittier, CA and only see clients located in California. Cultura Therapy was founded to work with people of different cultural backgrounds.  During this COVID-19 pandemic, we are attempting to meet clients over teleheatlh to reduce risks. It is our priority to continue to meet client needs, during this emotionally demanding time.

Is this your first time seeking therapy?

Taking the initial steps to find assistance takes courage and I congratulate for being here. I understand that going to therapy for the first time can make most feel uneasy. I hope this information can be helpful. Most people go through these feelings when seeking out therapy or counseling for the first time. I know we have all heard stories, seen images, and heard labels depicting what going to therapy is like- only for “crazies” or “the unstable.” The right therapist will help you dismantle some of those ideas and help you identify goals for your tailored care. Therapy can be a safe space for individuals, couples, or families to identify healthier behaviors, communication, and personal goals to live a more resilient life. Simply, therapy can be a trusting space where a compassionate listener provides support in a needed time.

  • Usually, therapy starts with finding the right therapist for you. Each therapist has a process to consult with a new client and figure out if needs, scheduling, fees, and specialization are a good match.  I offer a free 15-minute consultation phone call at 626-552-8296 to see if we are a good fit.

  • If a first session is scheduled, there is usually an intake process. This is where the therapist collects important information about mental health needs, gets informed consent, reviews policies, and coordinates future sessions.

  • Together, a therapist and client identify goals to create a treatment plan. Throughout the time working together, a therapist and client revisit these goals to make sure they are on the right path.

  • I hope this information helps inform someone considering therapy and allows them to feel more confident about the process.

We grow in relation to others...

After meeting with many people, in some of their hardest moments, I realize that everyone wants to be loved and supported. Through some work, we might be able to unpack that acceptance, while also honoring those hard moments. Overtime, I’ve seen that when people learn how to show themselves acceptance, the way they tell their story changes, and by default they change. I get the honor of being part of this process. More than anything, I’ve learned that we grow in relation to others.
